The city's biggest block party is taking over the downtown core.
The iHeartRadio MMVAs takes over 299 Queen Street West tonight.
Some of the biggest names in music will perform - among them - Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Meghan Trainor, 5 Seconds of Summer, Brett Kissel, Kris Wu, 98 Degrees, along with a host of others. Some of the presenters include: 'America's Next Top Model' icon Tyra Banks, 'This is Us' star Chrissy Metz, reality TV star Kristin Cavallari, 'World of Dance' judge Derek Hough, Prince Michael Jackson, among others.
The show will be hosted by 'Crazy Rich Asians' and 'Oceans 8' star Awkwafina, who rose to fame through cheeky YouTube rap videos before starring in Hollywood movies.
Queen Street West has been closed since 8 o'clock this morning and won't reopen until 3 o'clock Monday morning. Other streets in the area of Queen and John are also affected or will have limited access tonight.
This year's show is undergoing a number of changes, aside from officially abbreviating its former name -- the Much Music Video Awards.
The party was shifted from its usual mid-June date to late August to help capitalize on back-to-school season.
It also gave the show an opportunity to introduce a number of new categories, including one that crowns the song of the summer.
Don't miss the red carpet special which kicks off at 8:00 PM. The big show airs at 9:00 PM. It will be simulcast on CTV, MTV, Much and stream online.
