An unusual traffic stop for OPP officers last Thursday.
Police say they got reports of a street sweeper travelling incredibly slowly on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Mississauga. Witness reports also said the driver was drinking waht appeared to be alcohol inside the moving commercial vehicle.
Police found the slow moving cleaner, pulled it over and arrested the driver.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a periscope video Saturday the man faces charges of driving impaired, driving over the legal limit and having open alcohol in the vehicle he was driving.
Schmidt said "Had it not been for the witnesses who observed this vehicle originally and called 911 to report it, this driver could have continued and who knows what may have happened," adding "This is completely unacceptable."
Police have identified the driver as 48-year-old Aaron Duffy of Mississauga.
Schmidt said "This may sound like a comedy routine, and only in Canada, that you're going to be charged with impaired driving in a street sweeper going down the road, but this is pretty serious."
If you drink....don't drive...anything!
