It's an annual spring tradition in Toronto - the Khalsa Day Parade, and that has parts of the downtown core - including Lake Shore Boulevard West - closed to vehicular traffic.
Khalsa Day, also known as Vaisakhi, celebrates the Sikh New Year and the establishment of the Sikh community in 1699.
Sunday afternoon's event gets underway at 1 p.m. at Exhibition Place.
The parade will head southbound on New Brunswick Way, before turning eastbound onto Lake Shore Boulevard.
Participants will then head northbound on York Street and University Avenue, before arriving at Nathan Phillips Square at 3:30 p.m.
Police are asking parade-goers to take transit to the event, and avoid driving in the area near the route. Delays are anticipated.
