As many as 85,000 people are expected to participate in the Khalsa Day parade on Sunday including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Kathleen Wynne and Mayor John Tory.
The event celebrates the Sikh New Year and the end of Sikh Heritage Month.
It also marks the establishment of the Sikh community in 1699.
The event supports the Hospital for Sick Children.
Starting at 9 a.m., some 20,000 people are expected to gather at Exhibition Place’s Better Living Centre where Sikh musicians and scholars will accompany school children in hymns and prayers.
The parade starts at 1 p.m. at Exhibition Place and ends at Nathan Phillips Square around.
All westbound lanes on Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed.
And the northbound lanes of York Street and University Avenue.
The Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwaras Council says the Khalsa Day parade is the third largest parade in Canada.
