The city of Toronto has released numbers on their King Street Pilot project showing just how much faster the streetcars are moving when they don't have to deal with cars and trucks.
The answer? On average two and a half minutes.
Some of the positives in the city report is that reliability of street car travel times has increased.
And when you look at vehciles, city hall says most of the streets have only seen a chance of a minute or less, compared to the days before the pilot project.
And if it's more than a minute delayed, the city says most often it's caused by other factors.
The pilot project has been running for two weeks and is a transit-priority pilot project on King Street from Bathurst Street to Jarvis Street. Vehciles must turn right off of King, giving priority to streetcars.
The project will run a full year.
