The makers of "U by Kotex Sleek Tampons" has issued a recall after reports of the product coming apart and becoming stuck in women's bodies.
Kimberly-Clark says the recall for the regular absorbency Sleek Tampons is tied to 18, 34 and 3-count packages that were manufactured between October 7, 2016 and October 16, 2018.
The products were sold across North America.
According to reports from consumers, some tampons would unravel or come apart when women were trying to remove them. As a result, some women had to seek out medical help in order to get pieces of the product out of their bodies.
There were also a few reports of vaginal infections, injuries and irritation.
To check if your tampons correspond to those under the recall, you can visit the Kotex website recall page and check the lot number on the bottom of the product box.
Anyone who has an affected product is advised to stop using it immediately and call the company's customer service team at 1-888-255-3499.
No other U by Kotex products were impacted by the recall.
