Another frustrating commute home for thousands this evening who use the Lakeshore West Go train line.
Lightning strikes from Monday afternoon's storm knocked out signals, forcing a suspension of westbound service from Union.
Metrolinx spokesperson Sunyia Kukaswadia confirmed to NEWSTALK1010 that Mimico station was the source of the signal failures.
"It's just Westbound service that has been temporarily suspended out of Union."
The suspension of service left many commuters either stuck on the trains or delayed angry and frustrated.
Some took to twitter to vent.
Send the 5:30 back to Union. We left Union, thinking the delays were either over or minimal and are now told 80 min delay. Shame on GO for not cancelling all the trains in the first place so we could make alternate arrangements instead of sitting at Bathurst for hours!

Eventually service was restored to the Lakeshore line around 8:30 p.m. But even as trains began to roll again, there were risidual delays across the entire GO network.Stuck in a 80 minute train delay... I’m tryna go home. The train barely left Union which is the worst part.
