Doug Ford is dismissing a claim that his late brother had a gun at home as an "outright lie".
Doug Ford was in the NEWSTALK 1010 studio Tuesday to discuss the release of his new book "Ford Nation: Two brothers, one vision:The True Story of the People's Mayor".
In a 2015 tell-all authored by Rob Ford's former chief of staff and NEWSTALK 1010 host, Mark Towhey describes a frightening middle of the night phone call with his "out of it", fast-talking boss in the summer of 2012. Towhey heard the then-mayor and his wife screaming at each other, including a declaration from Rob Ford that "I swear to God I’m going to kill this woman". Towhey writes Rob Ford also told him his wife had moved his gun.
"That's an outright lie," Doug Ford told NEWSTALK 1010's Moore in the Morning Tuesday. "Rob never had guns in the house, never once. That's Mark Towhey's little imagination going."
In "Ford Nation" Doug Ford says when allegations his younger brother had smoked crack on video first surfaced, he asked Rob Ford if they were true, he denied them.
"I believed him, I had to believe him," Doug Ford writes.
Doug Ford does not regret taking his brother at his word. Doug Ford admits he was "let down" but pins the disappointment on his brother's "personal issues".
