Here's everything you need to know about the opening of the subway extension into Vaughan.
The new 8.6 km TTC Line 1 subway extension into Vaughan opens on Sunday morning. Planning on the $3.18 billion project began in 2004 and construction started in 2010.
Where does it go?
The extension of Line 1 goes from Sheppard and the Allen to near Jane and Highway 7 in Vaughan.
How long will it take to get downtown?
42 minutes from Vaughan to Union Station.
How long does it usually take to drive?
Some drivers suggest it's usually 75 to 90 minutes
How much will it cost?
• $3.25 one way on a TTC cash fare
• An unlimited weekly TTC pass will cost you $43
• A TTC unlimited monthly pass is $140
Where are the stations?
• Downsview Park - south of Sheppard Avenue West, adjacent to the Barrie GO Transit Line
• Finch West - at the intesection of Keele Street and Finch Avenue West
• York University at York Boulevard and Ian Macdonald Boulevard
• Pioneer Village - at North West Gate and Steeles Avenue, east of Jane Street
• Highway 407 - south of Highway 407 and west Jane Street
• Vaughan Metropolitan Centre at Highway 7 and Millway Avenue.
Where can I park?
There are new lots at three stations stations (with a combined 2,800 spaces). The lots are located at Keele and Finch, near Steeles and Jane, and close to the 407 and Jane.
What will parking cost?
It's free until April. The cost after that has yet to be determined but the TTC tells NEWSTALK 1010 it should be compared to current parking prices, around $5-$7.
How often will the trains come?
Every 4 minutes.
