Lucy Troisi is the new Toronto city councillor for Ward 28 - Toronto Centre-Rosedale.
She was appointed by a special city council vote on Thursday and will assume the seat left vacant by the death of the late councillor Pam McConnell.
McConnell passed away last July.
Troisi was declared the winner after getting the majority of support (24-19) on the second round of voting.
She beat out Michael Creek, who was the candidate endorsed by Mayor John Tory, as well as McConnell's family.
Creek is a staffer in McConnell's office at city hall.
Troisi used to work as a manager in Toronto's Parks and Recreation department, and now heads up the Cabbagetown Youth Centre.
