As members of the Conservative Party try to decide who will replace Andrew Scheer as leader, we're getting a sense of who the voting public feels would be the best choice.
Peter MacKay comes out on top in a new poll by Maru/BLUE.
It found that among those who would vote Conservative if a federal election was held tomorrow, 55 percent have MacKay as their top choice.
He was followed behind by candidates Erin O'Toole at 23 percent, Leslyn Lewis at 11 percent and Derek Sloan at 11 percent.
MacKay also topped a separate poll of the general public. 51 percent had him as their top choice.
The poll of those who would consider voting for the Conservative Party of Canada if a federal election were held tomorrow is considered nationally accurate within +/- 2.6 percentage points.
The poll involving the general voting public is considered nationally accurate to within +/- 2.9 percentage points.
