Toronto Police have laid a second-degree murder against a 41-year-old Brampton man in connection with the death of his roomate, found inside a downtown Toronto apartment last week.
Investigators allege that Richard Isaac met 28-year-old Victoria Selby-Readman through social media, specifically Facebook and Instagram, where she had been advertising for a roommate.
Detective Paul Worden told NEWSTALK1010, Isaac had only moved in a few weeks before Selby-Readman's death on June 12.
Her body was found that day just after 5:00 p.m. inside her fifth-floor unit at 798 Richmond Street West.
While Worden confirms there was no romantic relationship between the victim and the accused, he said Isaac has a history of domestic-related incidents and was known to police.
"Our investigation has led us to believe he may have had contact with other [and] met up with other women in dating relationships through social media," he said. "Based on what we know - without being too specific - we have concerns about his history with women."
Isaac was arrested on Saturday evening at a trailer park in Fenelon Falls, and made a court appearance at Old City Hall on Sunday.
"At the time of his arrest, he was wanted on outstanding warrants in Durham," Worden confirmed. "[They were] for unlawfully in a dwelling and harrassment."
Worden is appealing for anyone who had contact with Isaac or had been in a relationship with him over the past few years to give TPS Homicide a call at 416-808-7400.
This marked the city's 40th homicide of the year.
