A Toronto driver was detected with so much liquor in his system it technically qualified as "alcohol poisoning".
Police were responding to reports from the public of a man behind the wheel of his car in a parking lot near Toronto Pearson Tuesday night.
Officers had to wake the driver from his slumber when they arrived at the scene in the area near Eglinton and Renforth.
They breath-tested him to find he was five times over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
"In all the time that I've been a police officer, which is substantial ... I've only seen readings higher than this twice before," says Constable Dave Hopkinson of Toronto Police.
Police labelled his blood-alcohol reading of 400mg "disturbing".
He was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution, before being taken to a police station to provide samples.
Constable Hopkinson says it is very concerning to consider how the driver got to the parking lot.
He says the man will be charged, go to court and have his license suspended.
