This is not what Halton Police expected to find when they responded to a call about a shooting in Burlington.
Police say a man called 911 Tuesday night to report that a woman had been shot in the arm and that police raced, sirens blazing, to the scene.
When they got there they found out the whole thing was a hoax.
Police alleged the man who called was upset that police hadn't responded more quickly to his call about his missing cell phone.
The caller, a 27-year-old man, has been charged with public mischief and conveying false messages.
Police say this call was a drain on resources and risk to public safety.
