Police in Toronto say they've made an arrest in a pair of vandalism cases, including one that shut down a west-end subway station for several hours on Friday.
In a statement released Saturday afternoon, Toronto police say a 48-year-old man faces 16 charges related to the two incidents, which happened nearly a month apart.
In the first case, police allege the man entered a fenced area in the city's west side on Jan. 7 and cut the power cables leading to an airport lighting beacon.
In the second, police say he entered a subway tunnel on Feb. 2 and intentionally damaged 10 track switches. That led to the temporary closure of the Royal York subway station.
Police say the man was arrested several hours later, possessing the tools used to damage the track switches.
He appeared in court on Saturday to face charges including mischief, break-and-enter and failing to comply with a recognizance.
