A 56-year-old man from Barrie is facing charges in a case of a flying wheel on Highway 400 last month.
It was back on June 12th, when the wheel came off the car travelling in the northbound lanes, near Highway 89, bounced over the median, and slammed into a car driven by a 29-year-old woman.
Provincial Police now say the man is facing a charge of "detached part", uner the highway traffic act. The charge comes with a possible penalty of up to $2,000.
The woman in the other vehicle suffered serious facial injuries when the wheel and tire collapsed the upper portion of her winshield. She was airlifted to hospital, but is now recovering at home.
The man charged is a Toronto Police officer who wasn't on duty at the time of the crash.
