Toronto police have handcuffed a man they say took advantage of a position of trust and sexually assaulted four children.
The alleged abuse unfolded between 1981 and 1987 when the victims were aged between five and 12. Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook says the alleged victims who are members of the same family spoke to police on Saturday.
Douglas-Cook would not get into specifics about how the victims were acquainted with their alleged abuser who would have been a teenager at the time.
"He was well-known to the family and they felt comfortable enough that he was in the company of these children. And unfortunately, he took advantage of the situation," Douglas-Cook said.
The man faces a combined eight charges of sexual intercourse with female under 14, sexual assault, indecent assault and buggery.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-1400 or contact Crime Stoppers.
