Investigators with York Regional Police are trying to track down a driver and a vehicle after a hit-and-run in Markham Saturday night.
Police were called to Birchmount Road and Royal Crest Court - near 14th Avenue - at about 9:45 p.m. after a man in his mid 40's was struck.
"He's currently in life-threatening condition at a trauma centre," duty inspector Kelvin Chantiam told NEWSTALK1010. "The vehicle fled the scene."
Chantiam says investigators are looking for an older-model light grey-coloured SUV with fresh front end damage.
"We have no information on the gender of the driver," Chantiam added. "We're appealing - if the driver is listening to our media appeal - to contact the major collision investigation unit or have a lawyer do that on his or her behalf, and we can go on from there."
Police are also asking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Chantiam says they can call 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704 or Crime Stoppers.
