A shooting between police and a man at a gas station in Burlington early Saturday morning has left one person dead.
The incident occurred at Harvester Road and Appleby Line near the QEW, prompting the involvement of the Special Ivestigations Unit (SIU)
According to spokesperson Monica Hudon, police received a call about a suspicious man in the bathroom at the gas station around 5:30 a.m.
When they responded, "the man exited the bathroom and there was an exchange between him and five police officers." Hudon confirms the 32-year-old was struck.
"The man was shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two police officers from Halton police were also shot and they were taken to hospital for treatment."
A total of five officers confronted the man, 4 from Halton Regional Police and one from the OPP.
The condition of the two officers injured is not known, but Hudon added it is not life-threatening.
The OPP had originally tried to track down the suspect, after he had allegedly been involved in a car accident on the QEW earlier in the morning.
Hudon adds mutliple investigators are currently on scene and will be there for some time.
" At this time we have five investigators and two forensic investigators who are probing the circumstances."
