Toronto Police have called in homicide detectives after a man was found suffering from gunshot wounds inside a car that crashed, Wednesday evening.
Officers were called to the Islington and St. Andrews Blvd. - north of Dixon - just before 6:30 p.m. for a collision.
"A vehicle was on the sidewalk and wedged between two trees," Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook told NEWSTALK1010. "It looked as if it struck one of the trees."
The man inside the vehicle was without vital signs and appeared to have gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
While investigators are unsure of where he was shot, and if it happened while he was driving, Cook says there is "just the one scene - the male in the vehicle found with gunshot wounds is the scene that we are currently investigating."
There is no word on the victim's age, nor are there any details about suspects.
Any witnesses are being asked to contact police.
If this is confirmed to be a homicide, this will mark the city's 93rd murder of 2018.
