TORONTO - Police say they have pulled a body from Lake Ontario after a vehicle drove into the waters off the foot of Bathurst Street on a snowy, frigid Sunday morning.
Investigators say the vehicle entered the water about 20 to 25 feet from the dock at Billy Bishop Airport at around 7 a.m..
Const. Rob Reid told NEWSTALK1010 that witnesses reported seeing one person in the car at the time.
Paramedics confirmed to the Canadian Press that a man's body was pulled from the vehicle around 12:30 p.m.
It took some time for the marine unit to remove the car from the water as weather conditions were complicating the efforts.
Police also say the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
"I have no information on the victim or the reason for the vehicle entering the water," Const. Reid said.
They plan to check surveillance video from the airport and other nearby properties to piece things together.
