More gun violence in the city of Toronto.
A male in his early 20's is dead after suffering gun shot wounds inside a Toronto Housing Community building near Adelaide and Berkely streets in Corktown around 2 a.m.
Toronto Police Detective Rob Choe confirmed to our media partner CP24 that the victim was found in a common area on the 4th floor of the building at 501 Adelaide Street East by police officers.
" Upon arrival they found a male victim suffering from some significant trauma. Some life-saving efforts were initiated by EMS, unfortunately those efforts were not successful and our victim was pronounced at scene."
Reports indicate that the victim suffered a gun shot wound to the head and that it may have been a targeted hit.
The suspect has been described as a white male, who was wearing all black clothing.
Detective Choe also didn't rule out the possibility there could be more than one suspect involved.
"What I'm prepared to say is that we believe that there is obviously one suspect involved, we're trying to ascertain if there's anyone else involved as well."
Homicide detectives along with the Forensics Identification Unit remain at the crime scene investigating.
