A man shot behind the Pickering Recreation Centre early Sunday has died of his injuries.
Durham Regional Police Inspector Glen Courneya confirmed to our media partner CP24, that police responded to gun shot calls at the Centre, located on Valley Farm Road near Highway 2 at around 6:30 a.m.
"We had received multiple reports of shots fired."
Courneya adds when they arrived, they found a male victim behind the Centre.
"Officers arrived on scene locating a male victim with obvious signs of trauma.
The victim was transported to Sunnybrook, but was pronounced dead en route.
Police are looking for "multiple" suspects seen fleeing the area.
"We are continuing our investigation. We have members of FIS, Homicide and our Public Safety Unit commencing a serach in the area."
