Toronto Police say they have arrested 'many' people after an armed standoff at a downtown Toronto restaurant.
Constable Jennifer Sidhu says officers were called to an Asian take out and delivery place near Dundas St W and University Ave at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"The information initially received was that there were multiple men with firearms inside the restaurant," Sidhu tells NEWSTALK 1010.
Police could not immediately say how many people armed with guns or how many patrons and staff members were inside. Sidhu could only say the number of bystanders were in the "double digits".
Toronto Police's Emergency Task Force was called in to help lead patrons and staff members out one by one. Sidhu says the man who barricaded himself inside was also eventually escorted out.
Sidhu could not say why people with guns went into the restaurant or if there have been problems at the address before.
