Convicted drunk driver Marco Muzzo is now eligible to apply for what are called unescorted temporary absences from prison.
Muzzo pleaded guilty last year to impaired driving causing death in connection to a crash in Vaughan that killed three Neville-Lake chidren and their grandfather.
The Correctional Service of Canada confirms that he is now eligible to apply for temporary releases for things like family contact, medical purposes or community service.
“Temporary releases may be granted when it is considered that the inmate will not, by re-offending, present a risk to society during the absence," a spokesperson writes.
While the CSC will not say whether he has applied yet for such an absence for privacy reasons, they have confirmed that no hearing has been scheduled at this point.
