Today marks one year of legal marijuana in Canada.
It's also the day that marijuana edibles officially become legal, but don't expect to find them at your local legal pot shop any time soon.
Because of the way the law is written, shops won't actually be able to sell edibles for another couple of months. Today is the day producers can start submitting their products to Health Canada for approval.
That can take 60-90 days so you might be able to buy them by Christmas.
Once they're available, there will be a range of options.
Adine Fabiani-Carter with High Park Company was on NEWSTALK 1010's the Nightside. She says her company will carry chocolates, gummies, vapes and drinks.
There have been concerns about children wanting to get their hands on things like pot cookies.
"Health Canada has done a great job of putting in regulations," Fabiani-Carter says.
The regulations require edibles to be in child resistant packaging that does not appeal to children. Companies are not allowed to advertise their products in places children might see it.
