Three people have been charged after allegedly tagging a GO train and other Metrolinx property that will be costly to repair.
Graffiti was found on a nearly empty train Thursday night on the Lakeshore East line, spray painted onto the windows and seats that will have to be reupholstered.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne-Marie Aikins says the agency is "absolutely annoyed" that a brand new train got tagged.
"It may look harmless," she says. "It may seem like it's victimless, but it costs an inordinate amount of money."
Aikins says it cost Metrolinx about $250,000 last year to clean graffiti.
"The problem hasn't gone away, and it's actually gotten worse."
The agency hopes the arrest and charges will deter others from committing the same crime.
Two men and a woman have been charged with mischief over $5,000. The two men were also charged with failing to comply with a court order, which means they are repeat offenders.
