Metrolinx appears to have bowed to public pressure, and will no longer be closing a section of Bathurst, just north of Eglinton.
The company say they have withdrawn their application with the City of Toronto.
In a statement from Metrolinx, they say:
"We acknowledge we could have done a better job engaging the community and the councillors. While closing Bathurst Street would have accelerated construction of Forest Hill Station by three months, we understand the community did not feel this benefit outweighed the impacts on area residents."
The closure was expected to last a total of seven months.
The move comes just hours before a town hall meeting among the residents of the community and Metrolinx officials. That meeting will continue as scheduled.
More to come...
