The ripple effects of potential strike action by 55 thousand CUPE education support staff could be felt on GO transit, if education workers hit the picket lines Monday morning.
In a tweet posted by Metrolinx senior spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins, she notes that they are planning ahead to ensure it's business as usual on Monday.
However, there could be service disruptions, including GO Bus cancellations, as some Metrolinx staff, like many other parents, scramble to make childcare arrangements for their children.
"As we know, many of our employees have children, so we are planning ahead with contingency plans, just to ensure that our services do run as smoothly as possibly, in the event of a strike Monday," Metrolinx spokesperson Fannie Sunshine tells NEWSTALK1010.
"Metrolinx is planning ahead to ensure it's business as usual, however there is always a potential for cancellations, especially with bus services, so we recommend customers give themselves extra time to check for service updates."
Metrolinx is mainly concerned with GO bus service right now, but UP Express could also be impacted.
Customers are being advised to check schedules ahead of time.
