Here's an idea: How about using those Presto readers to tap your debit or credit card and pay for your ride?
It's an idea Metrolinx is going to try out.
"We need to move the Presto product, as it stands now, into the new age and onto a new platform," Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster told reporters on Monday.
The Toronto Star reports a trial would begin sometime next year.
It could be a while though, before TTC users would be able to tap a credit or debit card.
Metrolinx will start by testing the payment method on GO buses.
Spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins tells the Star that Metrolinx plans to install new readers starting later this month, but they would need a software update to accept debit or credit, which isn't expected until sometime next year.
