Don Valley East MPP Michael Coteau has announced his intentions to become the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.
Coteau, who won one of seven Liberal seats in last year's provincial election, made the announcement via Twitter video at 4 p.m. on Father's Day.

The MPP discussed his background, growing up in Flemingdon Park as the child of immigrants who credits a good high school in helping to turn his life around.
"I learned my values because of how I grew up and where, in an Ontario that gave me a chance to make it," he said. "I'm driven to fight for those values to replace Doug Ford, and to restore decency in politics."
Coteau is the third candidate to enter the race. Former Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca and former Liberal candidate for Oakville-North Burlington have already announced their intentions to run.
As the provincial NDPs hold their convention this weekend, the Ontario Liberals have made some decisions of their own.
Meantime, the Ontario Liberals' Executive Council has decided that candidates who wish to run for party leadership have until November 25th at 5 p.m. to make that decision.
In a news release, it says registrants will need to raise $100,000 in order to run.
The party's leadership convention is scheduled for March 6-7, 2020 at the International Centre in Mississauga.
