A court process for former NEWSTALK 1010 host Mike Bullard on harassment charges has been put on hold until next month.
Neither Bullard nor his lawyer Arthur Stern were in a College Park courtroom Wednesday, represented instead by a law student.
Bullard faces five charges including criminal harassment, obstruction of justice and breaching a court order. The case will be back before a judge December 9, possibly to set a date for trial.
Court documents obtained by NEWSTALK 1010's sister station CTV identify the complainant as City News reporter Cynthia Mulligan.
Bullard tells the Toronto Star the charges stem from a "bad breakup".
Stern told NEWSTALK 1010 Tuesday Bullard was attending counselling and focused on "getting his life together."
Scott Henderson, Vice President of Communications for NEWSTALK 1010's parent company Bell Media shared the following statement:
"I can confirm Mike departed 1010 on October 5.
Mike's show had been part of the Newstalk 1010 lineup since 2010, when the station was owned by Astral Media. Bell Media acquired Astral and its media properties including Newstalk 1010 in July 2014.
Jim Richards has taken over the hour and the Jim Richards Show now runs 12-4 p.m."
Rogers, City's parent company released this statement when reached by NEWSTALK 1010 for comment:
"At Rogers we have zero tolerance for harassment. We are aware that a situation is before the courts and, while we won’t comment further on this matter, we are hopeful this will bring about a quick resolution."
