Peel Police are investigating a Mississauga carjacking Friday, that briefly involved a 3-year-old child.
Police confirm that an ongoing investigation for a stolen vehicle was being conducted Friday night by its Central Robbery Bureau and Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP).
Just after 7:30 p.m., the special unit spotted 3 suspects, wanted in a stolen vehicle incident, sitting in a cab.
According to police, the cab driver was offered money to drive away, was assaulted, but wasn't injured.
The cab was stopped in the area of Novo Star Drive and Mavis Road in Mississauga.
Police confronted the three for their involvement in the stolen vehicle incident.
A brief struggle ensued and one of the officers suffered minor injuries.
One of the three suspects was arrested, but the other two fled on foot.
Just before 8 p.m., the pair came across a woman getting into her vehicle in the area of Haines Artist Way and Elliott Parliament Street.
The victim was placing her 3-year-old daughter in the rear car seat, when the two suspects approached her.
They demanded the vehicle, but the woman managed to retrieve her daughter from the car seat.
The two suspects then sped away in her car, last seen travelling northbound on Haines Artist Way.
Neither the mother or the daughter suffered any injuries.
The vehicle stolen is described as a 2018 black BMW with Ontario license BVLR298.
The one suspect arrested, identified as 19-year-old Keerat Sehra of Brampton, is facing several charges including robbery, assaulting a peace officer, and failing to comply with release order.
He appeared in a Brampton court on Saturday.
The investigation is ongoing.
