Major League Baseball has suspended Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna through August 4, 2018.
Osuna, 23, has been on paid administrative leave since he was arrested last month and charged with one count of assault.
The league made the announcement Friday evening.
Commissioner Manfred announced today that @BlueJays pitcher Roberto Osuna has accepted a suspension without pay through 8/4/18 for violating the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. The suspension is without pay for violating the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
It is retroactive to May 8 - the date he was arrested - and covers a total of 75 games.
This is believed to be the second longest non-PED related suspension since the policy was first put into effect.
Osuna will not be appealing the suspension. He will lose about $2.54 million of his $5.3 million salary.
In a statement, the Blue Jays say they ``support the decision by the Commissioner's Office.''
Osuna's case was in court Monday, where his lawyer Domenic Basile said his client intends to plead not guilty to the assault charge.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.
