"The final tally was 32cms of snow, that was massive." says Gerald Cheng from Environment Canada.
The snow started to fall in Toronto just before lunchtime and never let up all afternoon, and through most of the overnight.
By the time it was said and done, it was a record storm, and a snow day for thousands of kids.
"During one hour yesterday, 6cms fell, so that was really intense." says Cheng.
As you can expect, the city has their hands full with cleaning up after such a significant snowfall.
By Tuesday morning, they had most of the major routes clear, and so they turned their focus and attention to the sidestreets and sidewalks.
That work is expected to be completed by Tuesday evening.
And if you're hoping mother nature would lend you a hand in cleaning this up, think again.
There's an extreme cold warning in effect for Toronto and most of the rest of the GTA.
Starting tonight, temperatures will drop and the winds will pick up, gusting to 50km/h at times.
That will make things feel more like -30 to -35 degrees.
And the cold is going to last until Friday, when the temperature starts to warm up a little.
