Conservative Party of Canada MP Tony Clement is resigning from his caucus assignments amid a sex and extortion scandal.
In a statement, MP Tony Clement says he has sent sexually explicit images and videos to a woman over the past three weeks and is now the victim of a financial extortion attempt.
The RCMP are investigating who is behind the extortion attempt.
Clement says he believed the woman was a consenting recipient of the images and videos. There has been no indication of who she is.
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says in a statement he is greatly disappointed with Clement's actions but is encouraged that he has decided to seek help.
Clement has been serving the riding of Parry Sound-Muskoka since 2006. He is married with three children.
