A 25-year-old is facing a slew of charges after leading the OPP on a chase on Highway 401, which included two collisions and driving the wrong way on the highway.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday night when police originally got a call about a possible kidnapping in the area of Highway 400 and Major Mackenzie Drive.
OPP Cst. Rob Knight said police caught up with the car once it got to the 401.
"The vehicle fled and failed to stop," he said.
The 2016 Silver Mazda with four people inside then sideswiped one vehicle, but still didn't stop and instead turned around and started going eastbound in the westbound lanes.
It finally came to stop when it hit a transport truck, getting stuck between the truck and the concrete median.
"If the individual would've stopped for police initially, the driver would be facing a lot less charges," he said.
A 25-year-old man from Etobicoke was charged Friday morning with dangerous driving, failure to comply with probation and flight from police.
He's also charged with failing to remain at a scene and driving without a license.
A 26-year-old woman from Vaughan is also charged with cocaine possession, credit card theft and identity theft.
There were no charges laid in connection to the original kidnapping complaint and the two other individuals in the car were released.
Knight said thankfully there were no serious injuries and because it was rush hour, traffic was going a bit slower than normal.
But he stressed the driver's decision was extremely dangerous.
"The potential was there for them to cause catastrophic injury," he said.
