For the first time, we are getting a detailed account of the moments leading up to the murder of 14-year-old Devan Selvey.
The teen was stabbed to death outside his Hamilton high school earlier this month.
Now, his mother, Shari-Ann Selvey, has told her story to the Hamilton Spectator.
She says she was nearly able to pull her son to safety, almost grabbing his arm to get in him the car, when she claims a boy came up from behind him and stabbed him in the back.
Selvey says one blow from the knife was all it took. She held her dying son in her arms, kissed his head and begged him to come back.
She says the day started as she was driving to court, planning to file a civil suit against the teens who'd been bullying her son. She claims the police told her it was her best option to get justice.
That's when Devan called, asking her to pick up him.
He told his mother that one of his bullies was inside the school when he was supposed to be suspended.
She turned the car around and drove to the school.
Selvey claims a girl was taunting her son, telling him to hit her, but he refused.
That's when, she says, the alleged killer, came running.
Two brothers have been charged with first-degree murder in this case.
