Toronto Public Health is still investigating what caused an illness at Humber College's north campus. Nearly 200 students have fallen ill.
Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Michael Finkelstein tells CP24 the symptoms they exhibited are consistent with the norovirus, but haven't ruled anything out yet.
“The signs and a symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea have been associated with norovirus in the past and that certainly is possible but we continue to investigate,” he said.
Since Thursday, about 40 students have visited the emergency room, however only one of those students was actually admitted to hospital.
Dr. Finkelstein says the norovirus can be foodborne or passed person to person.
Humber officials are cleaning surfaces to help stem the spread of the illness.
