Nearly a month after she was first reported missing by Toronto Police, residents in the St. Clair and Christie neighbourhood say they're very concerned about the wellbeing of Jennifer Ilomaki.
The 39-year-old woman hasn't been seen since Saturday December 15 at about 11:30 in the morning. Police sent out a missing person's report that night.
In a NEWSTALK1010 exclusive, investigators say her family has received texts from her cell number since her disappearance, but there is no way to confirm if those texts are actually coming from her.
The last communication between her number and her family was on January 7.
Bill King from NEWSTALK1010's Saturdays with Ted says he was used to seeing Ilomaki on the bus and although he doesn't know her personally, he believes she works at a nearby care centre and is very concerned.
"You recognize faces because we have care centres," he said. "You see the people that come there to work there, you see them on their shifts. You know the faces of people."
"I've seen her travelling back and forth on the bus - same with my wife too."
King said as soon as he and his wife saw the notice about her disappearance, they knew who it was.
"It's not somebody you have a personal relationship with, but you get used to seeing them."
Ilomaki is described as 4'11" with a medium build and long black hair. At the time of her disappearance, her hair was pulled back into a bun, and she was wearing a bright blue parka, blue pants and black shoes with pink laces.
Police say if it is indeed her sending the texts to her family, they would appreciate her to confirm with them in person that she is okay.
Anyone with information on Ilomaki is asked to contact 13 Division at 416-808-1300, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
