New Brunswick trial into death of boys killed by python enters its second week
The Crown is expected to call its final witness today as the criminal negligence trial in the deaths of two young New Brunswick brothers killed by an escaped python begins its second week.
Jean-Claude Savoie is on trial on a charge of criminal negligence causing death.
Four-year-old Noah Barthe and his 6-year-old brother Connor were killed by Savoie's African rock python in August 2013 after it escaped an enclosure in his apartment where the boys were visiting for a sleepover.
An admission of fact that was entered Friday stated the snake was able to escape through a ventilation duct.
A juror was dismissed on Friday but the reason was not disclosed.
The case is expected to go to the jury by mid-week.
