It looks like the city would still pick Mayor John Tory over Doug Ford if the two squared off in a rematch of the 2014 mayoral election, but a new poll shows the gap between the two is narrowing.
Forum Reseach asked 840 Toronto residents who they would vote for if an election was held today and about 44 per cent said they'd check the box beside Tory's name, 33 per cent would vote for Ford and 22 per cent would vote for someone else.
Tory's lead over Ford is now 11 points, down from 16 in March.
Tory polled higher in the downtown area (47 per cent), East York (53 per cent) and even a little better than Ford in Etobicoke with 42 per cent support compared to 40 per cent for Ford.
The lead Tory has over Ford was down five points over all from last time Forum Research asked the question of who'd you rather vote for.
Forum Research Presidnet Lorne Bozinoff said in a press release "John Tory has a strong lead over Doug Ford, but this lead is eroding month-over-month."
Tory's overall approval rating is 47 per cent, which is down from 51 per cent back in March.
The poll is considered accurate to within 3.4 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
