The winter session of Parliament -- the last sitting before the fall federal election -- opens today in new surroundings.
For the first time, members of Parliament will be conducting formal business in a temporary House of Commons, in what's known as the West Block building.
They've been moved there while Centre Block, which includes the iconic Peace Tower, undergoes extensive renovations that are expected to last a decade or longer.
Much of the government's business over the coming weeks is expected to revolve around China.
Relations between Ottawa and Beijing have been chilly in recent weeks, and over the weekend Trudeau fired John McCallum -- the former Liberal cabinet minister who had been the ambassador to China for nearly two years.
Canada's economy could also be affected by a continuing trade war between China and the United States.
