It seems the vast majority of Torontonians who are married or living with someone want to stay with that person, but many wouldn't mind a break.
It's part of the findings of "The Pulse of Toronto", an exclusive poll by DART Insight and Communications and NEWSTALK 1010.
Those surveyed were asked, if they had the ability to do a certain something from a list, with or to their significant other, would they do it?
86% said they would, "stay together, through thick and thin and make it work forever."
Still, 32% would take a trip alone for a month.
"There's really no difference between men and women on this," says pollster John Wright. "But there's one big category and it's those who have children."
The number among that group was 44%. Very few regret having kids though. Only 5% said they wished they had not had children.
The poll also found a significant number of people who'd like to see some changes in their relationship.
63% said they'd like to make their relationship more caring and intimate than it is, while 57% would change some of their partner's more annoying habits.
Overall, according to Wright, those aged 35-54 tended to be more likely to say they'd do many of the things on the list.
"They tend to have children. They tend to have economic pressures on them," Wright explains.
Also of note, 15% said they'd stay in their relationship but step out from time to time and have a fling. 10% would rather spend the day with a pet than their partner.
DART Insight conducted an online survey of 814 Torontonians September 16-19, 2017. The poll is considered accurate +/- 3.9 percentage points 19 times out of 20. A full report with data tables can be found at dartincom.ca/polls.
