We finally have an update for you, four months after a Niagara Region Police officer shot another police officer in Pelham.
The SIU has arrested and charged Sergeant Shane Donovan with attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in the November 29th incident.
Detective Sgt. Shane Donovan and Constable Nathan Parker got into an argument during a traffic reconstruction investigation in the area of Roland Road and Sulphur Springs Drive, when shots were fired leaving Parker with gunshot wounds.
Constable Parker has been with the Niagara Region Police Service for 28 years, and has had a troubled past with four disciplinary hearings against him.
In a statement, Niagara Regional Police Chief Bryan MacCulloch said:
"There is little doubt that this incident has had a tremendous impact on our community and our members. At this time, we must respect the judicial process and allow this matter to continue to unfold before the courts. It is important to note that this is an isolated incident; I ask for your continued support of our members and all of those involved."
