Police say there is insufficient evidence to lay criminal charges after an investigation into allegations of voter fraud at a Hamilton Progressive Conservative Party nomination meeting in May 2017.
Hamilton Police say they received reports from a candidate at the Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas meeting that an alleged fraud resulted in another candidate winning the nomination race.
Investigators say they found evidence that some credential forms filed at the meeting were falsified and that the individuals named on the forms did not attend or vote at the meeting.
Police say they also found that one person listed on one of the forms had died a week before the meeting was held.
But investigators say that after consulting with the Crown, they are closing the investigation pending any new evidence being brought forward.
The Progressive Conservative Party did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
