A North York bakery has been fined 300 thousand dollars, after a woman was killed, when her hijab became snared in a conveyor belt.
Fiera Foods a commerical bakery near Highway 400 and Wilson, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a worker near a source of entanglement secured all loose clothing.
It was on September 2nd of last year, when a woman working at the bakery, saw her hijab become tangled under the guard coveringthe chain drive on the conveyor. She was killed because the emergency stop button wasn't close enough to where she became trapped.
There are reports the woman killed was 23-years-old and was sent to the facility by a temp agency. She'd reportedly only been on the job for three weeks at the time of her death.
