A young Black man who was assaulted by an off-duty Toronto police officer says he wants to see the constable serve jail time and not just get a ``slap on the wrist.''
A statement from Dafonte Miller was read in court today at the sentencing hearing for Constable Michael Theriault, who was convicted of assault earlier this year.
Miller says the attack has left him isolated and on edge.
Theriault says in a statement that he's been held up as an example of police brutality, but he never meant to cause Miller permanent injury.
The judge will be back with a sentence on November 5th, starting at 9:30.
