Some people figure they've left the Caps Lock button on so may as well finish the Tweet or email instead of fixing it or they use it to get across THE POINT OF THIER SENTENCES BETTER.
Caps Lock day is not actually a day to celebrate the button, but more of an awareness campaign to get rid of it all together.
History of Caps Lock Day
The first Caps Lock Day was held in 2000. Derek Arnold of Iowa decided he had simply had enough of people using all caps on the web to emphasize themselves. He created the day to poke fun at those who use this typing style in hopes of bringing some decorum to the internet.
It is acknowledged that there are some protocols that make it appropriate to post in all Caps, such as when posting as part of a weather monitoring network.
How to Celebrate Caps Lock Day
It is suggetsed the best way to celebrate Caps Lock Day is to not use the button at all, remind your friends on social media that they shouldn't use it either, unless of course they are meteorologists or Bobcat Goldthwait.
You can also start an ironic campaign of using CAPS LOCK all day to make a more blatant statement about how this makes other people look.
Even our very own Norm Kelly is celebrating!
APPARENTLY TODAY IS #CAPSLOCKDAY.
