There's been a new development in Tuesday's controversy over video of a Toronto Police takedown.

One of the officers linked to that arrest is being checked over in hospital with with the police union calls "head and shoulder injuries."

President Mike McCormack says the female officer started to experience "complications" from the scuffle she had with the suspect in the moments before the camera started rolling.

Allegations are she was punched in the face.

It is not clear how serious the officer's injuries might be.

Her police collegues were captured on cell phone camera stomping on the suspect and jolting him with a taser, as the man lay on the ground.

Authorities insist the suspect was resisting arrest, biting the hand of one of the officers.

The footage is at the centre of a code-of-conduct investigation by Toronto Police.
